These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the GetAccountED online accounting service (including GetAccountED Lite, the full suite and the accounting-practice edition) provided by Konnektivity (Pty) Ltd, trading as GetKonnektED, registration 2026/363576/07, a South African company ("GetAccountED", "we", "us"), to any business or accounting practice that signs up for or uses it ("Client", "you"). By using GetAccountED, you agree to these Terms.
If you also take a website, online store, domain name or payment service from GetKonnektED, the GetKonnektED Terms of Service apply to those services.
GetAccountED is a hosted, Software-as-a-Service ("SaaS") accounting platform: invoicing, purchases, banking and reconciliation, the general ledger and reports, payroll, VAT and tax preparation, document capture and related tools, depending on your plan. The plan, modules and monthly fee that apply to you are set out in your signup confirmation or invoice and form part of these Terms.
GetAccountED prepares figures and returns for you to review. Tax, VAT and payroll submissions are made by you (or your accountant) on SARS eFiling, and you remain responsible for checking them before you submit.
Your data is yours. Every document uploaded (invoices, slips, statements and other source documents) and every record created or processed in GetAccountED (invoices, bills, bank lines, journals, payroll, reports) belongs to the client business it relates to. It does not belong to us. This stays true whatever happens to your service or to us.
The GetAccountED software and underlying platform belong to GetKonnektED and are provided as a hosted service only. They do not transfer to you or to another provider. You can always leave and take your records and documents with you, as set out below.
Where an accounting practice uses GetAccountED to keep the books of its own clients, each client business owns its own records and documents. The practice works on them on that client's instructions. The practice may ask for any of the exports in these Terms on its clients' behalf, and each client business may also ask us directly for its own records. Each client business's data is kept separate from every other business on the platform.
This section forms the written agreement between you and us required by sections 20 and 21 of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA") for personal information you or your users put into the service about your customers, clients, employees and other people ("Client Personal Information"). For that information you are the responsible party and GetKonnektED is your operator. How we handle our own clients' and visitors' information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
If we ever decide to stop providing GetAccountED, or are unable to continue trading, we will give every client at least 90 days' written notice. During that period the service will stay available, at the very least read-only, and every client will receive a full export of their records and original documents free of charge, as described under Data export & portability.
Your service continues on a recurring (typically monthly) basis until cancelled by either party. You may leave at any time on the normal monthly notice. There are no exit fees and no charge for your data.
After cancellation your records stay available for export for 30 days, after which they are deleted from our live systems; encrypted backup copies are overwritten within 12 months. We keep information longer only where the law requires it. If you are moving to another provider, we will co-operate with them on the hand-over and answer reasonable questions about the export format.
The law requires businesses to keep their accounting records and source documents for set periods (for example, five years under the Tax Administration Act, and longer in some cases under the Companies Act). Those duties remain yours. Because records are deleted 30 days after cancellation, take your full export before you leave and keep it for as long as the law requires. We are happy to help you check that the export is complete before your account is closed.
We control and manage all hosting infrastructure, so that performance, security and uptime stay consistent for every client. Clients are not given direct server access. You have full access to your own books through your GetAccountED login, and you decide which of your staff and which accountant may use it.
Your monthly fee and any usage-based charges are set out in your signup confirmation or invoice. Fees are billed in advance unless otherwise agreed. We will give reasonable written notice before any change to recurring fees takes effect. Overdue accounts may have access suspended until payment is received; this never affects your ownership of your records or your right to an export.
South African tax tools. We offer tax and accounting tools that AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can call (for example PAYE and UIF calculations, VAT calculations and treatment, SARS due dates and reference-number checks), described at getaccounted.co.za/ai.html. Results are worked out from published SARS tables and legislation and are provided for information only. They are not tax, legal or accounting advice. Check them, or have your accountant check them, before you rely on them or submit anything to SARS. Tax law and SARS tables change, and we may update the tools at any time.
The tools have free daily limits and paid plans with monthly allowances, as shown on that page. Access keys are for your own use: keep them private and don't share or resell them. To meter use and prevent abuse, we record how many calls are made by each key or caller, but not the questions asked or the answers given. We may limit or suspend access that looks automated beyond the plan, abusive, or aimed at copying the tools or their data in bulk. Paid plans are billed under Fees & billing.
Connecting your own books. On the Full plan you can connect your GetAccountED books to an AI assistant you choose, using a private connector link you create in your account. Treat that link like a password: anyone who has it can use the connector within your permissions. You can revoke a link at any time and it stops working immediately. Any change made through a connector, such as filing a bank line, creating an invoice or sending a reminder, is shown to you first and only happens when you confirm it. Each change is recorded in your audit log.
When you connect an assistant, the information you ask it to read is passed to the provider of that assistant and handled under that provider's own terms and privacy policy. You decide whether to connect one, and which information to ask it about. We do not use your books to train AI models. You remain responsible for the returns you file and the decisions you make, including any based on an assistant's answer.
You agree not to use the service to store or transmit unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, or infringing content, to send unsolicited bulk communications (spam), or to engage in activity that disrupts or compromises the security of the platform or other clients on it. We may suspend access where we reasonably believe this is being breached, and will give notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue where the circumstances reasonably allow it.
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free service. Scheduled maintenance, third-party outages (hosting, storage, email or other providers we rely on), and circumstances outside our reasonable control may affect availability from time to time.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, including loss of profit, revenue or business opportunity, or for penalties or interest arising from a return you submitted without reviewing it. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under South African law.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." Except as expressly stated in these Terms, we make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the service, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent permitted by law. Suggestions made by the service's AI features are aids for you or your accountant to check, not professional tax or accounting advice.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss or expense arising from your breach of these Terms, your content, or your use of the service in violation of applicable law.
We rely on a small number of specialist providers to run the service, consistent with our Privacy Policy. Your use of the service is also subject to the acceptable-use terms of these underlying providers where applicable.
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the service or legal requirements. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and will give reasonable notice of material changes. We will not reduce the commitments under Ownership, Backups & recovery, Data export, Business continuity or Leaving GetAccountED for existing clients without at least 90 days' written notice.
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and any dispute arising from them is subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts, without prejudice to any statutory rights you may have as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act.
